A super way to end the season for the U11A team, winning both their matches this afternoon.
11 boys played in the A team today, showing the strength in depth. H.Gordon and D.Myers made played their first matches for the A team, performing admirably and contributing well to the teams success.
In the first game Durlston won comfortably 3-0. Had it not been for the heroics of the WHP goalkeeper the score would have been much more. S.Bewes went close on several occasions but D.Myers scored twice with E.Lomax scoring a thunderbolt from the byline that flew into the far top corner. The team played some nice football and were certainly enjoying themselves. When the full time whistle went you could just see what the win meant to them.
In the second game, F.Fleming, J.Osmotherly and A.Smith played a more prominent role, helping Durlston to their second win of the afternoon 1-0. This was a tight game and after losing 1-2 at Salisbury last week the boys were certainly up for the challenge. Durlston perhaps had the better chances with D.Myers notching his third goal of the afternoon to win the game. There was resolute defending throughout with high 5s all around for good defending rather and an eagerness to keep a second clean sheet. H.Walker was alert in goal, showing good hands, good kicking and a command of his area. L.Vincent was everywhere and contributed both to the teams attack and defense. E.Lomax had the fire in his eyes as he out fought every opponent and put in a proper shift, playing no fewer than 4 different positions during the afternoon.
It was a pleasure to take the team. They really were a team today and can all be proud of their efforts, commitment and desire to win.
